October Baseball

October 2015 From the Editor MetsGrowing up in New Jersey in the 1960s, my grandparents, parents, siblings and I were all New York Mets fans. I vividly remember running outside banging pots and pans in sheer joy when the NY Mets won the World Series October 16, 1969. They were victorious once again after 7 games in 1986 (producing an even better memory from their AMAZING game 6 which ended as I screamed and jumped up and down on a hotel bed while on vacation with my husband).  In between these two events and since their last win, there have many ups and downs as a New York Mets fan. But I always remained faithful, no matter what.

As I write this column, my NY Mets are about to go into post season baseball. I am very excited to once again experience October baseball with my favorite team participating. I am sure it will be full of ups and downs but I am thankful that I will get to be a part of the magic. It makes up who I am and reminds me of the great times watching baseball with family members who are no longer alive. I will especially cheer for my Dad and Grandpa who would love to be a part of exciting October baseball again. Let’s Go Mets!!
