Traveling by car while vacationing years ago usually involved a folded map and lots of patience. Maybe a fellow passenger was given the important job of “navigator” telling the driver where to go and when to turn. Cars were in the dark when it came to updated information pertaining to road changes, traffic conditions and construction. If the map you were using was an older one, getting lost was a real possibility.

Today, our GPS devices make traveling a breeze. The work of mapping out a route and estimating arrival time is done for us. If an accident is blocking our journey or adding time to our trip, the GPS will offer us a better way to get to where we want to go. We can even pick the language, gender and accent of our navigator. Every now and then a mistake may occur, but for the most part, it is pretty accurate. And just think of all the arguments these GPS devices stop. Gone are those annoying squabbles where family members blame each other for getting lost.
